Peavey Tube Guitar Amp VTX 2 x 12 130 watt Amplifier
This is a Peavey Heritage VTX Guitar two channel Tube Amp. It was made when peaveys were still great sounding, well-built amps. It has a 130W tube power stage (4 - 6L6s), solid state preamp and (2) 12” Scorpion speakers. It has a smooth spring reverb and just an overall great vibe. The controls include low, mid & high equalization for each channel as well as a pre- & post gain control. In addition to the noted controls, the lead channel also has a presence and “saturation” control while the clean channel features a parametric EQ in place of the mid control. The built-in phase shifter is high quality. Clean channel is very clean. The distortion rocks, crossing the line from crunch to pure tonal growl.
The cosmetic condition is so-so. It's definately been around the block. It's missing 3 knobs... obviously you can still turn the controls, its just the the plastic knobs are missing. You can get replacements in pretty much any music store. It's also got "Multi-Sound" spray painted o top. That's the recording studio it comes from.
As for operational condition... it's excellent. It was recently gone over by the premier vintage gear repair shop in NYC- EARS. They went throught the entire amp and made it good again. So the electronics, amp, tubes and preamp are great. The only issue is that the speakers are shot. They need to be replaced. You could replace the speakers with nice used or new replacement 12 inchers for anywhere from $50 to $200... depending on how nice you want them. If you did that, the amp would be completely brought back to life and last you for a very long time. Foot Switch Pedal is also included.
