Victrola Victor VV300 Phonograph with Dome Lid
The VV-300 was Victor's first horizontal console model, introduced in late 1921. While this Victrola had a totally new look from all previous machines, it retained the domed lid design which had been used on virtually all lidded Victrola's since they were first introduced. Initially, All VV-300's had the semi-automatic brake, gold plated hardware and a four-spring motor. Cabinets on the earliest 300's (made in 1921) were about 2 inches shorter (less height) than subsequent production versions. Otherwise, all VV-300's had identical design features. The VV-300 was available in oak mahogany or walnut. Production of the 300 was discontinued in 1923; the original 1921 selling price of the VV-300 was $250.00. The Serial Number is 10482, according to this number the production date is 1921.
This model is the Spring-wound model that is made from solid Mahogany. The exterior finished shows its age, the finish no longer has luster from the clear lacquer finish but when you lift the dome cover and expose the record drive assembly you see the mahogany lacquered finish in all its glory. The Spring-wound drive mechanism is no longer functioning. The doors for the storage cabinets are off the hinges and show wear as you can see in the pictures. The doors that cover the sound horn are still on the hinges and open and close with no issues, the inside of the doors still have the original beautiful lacquered finish. Record saddle still spins smoothly, Semi-auto stop arm works, green felt cover is in good shape with minor stains as seen in pictures, gold plated finish has some tarnish but is still pleasant to the eye, Needle arm is in good condition, stylus holder assembly is in tact and several replacement needles are included in the item as well as a collection of 78 RPM records that would be played by the VV300. This item is too large and fragile for standard shipping. The shipping method would have to be freight or Local pick up only.
