OTARI MTR-90 series II Reel to Reel Tape Machine 24 Trk

First, a note from SV….TAPE IS NOT DEAD!!! Tape will continue to be manufactured and available regardless of the recent scare. And dumping tape onto digital systems will still be the BEST sound for many more years. Viva la Analog! Now for the description…

OTARI MTR-90 series II. This machine is in very good condition both cosmetically and functionally. Less than 1000 hours. The heads were relapped once (98% sure that it was only once). It was purchased new about 12 years ago for an artist and was only in use part time when the artist worked on his own material. The swing arms have also been replaced. The PSU was entirely replaced about 5 years ago. The old one was noisy.

Comes with the standard CB-113 control/auto locator on rolling stand and the original manual. ALSO INCLUDED are the optional remote/locators CB-109 & CB-115 so you can have control from 2 separate positions. Right now, all three are mounted on the stand. Low Hours.

Here are some specifications from Otari.com:
Otari’s MTR-90 II has become the industry standard for user-friendly, reliable, great-sounding analog multitracks. MTR-90 Series II machines are found in studios, broadcast and film/ post facilities all around the world. This late-generation two-inch 24-track features full microprocessor-controlled transport functions and enhanced electronics. Smooth tape handling is ensured by the design’s lack of pinch rollers, which can degrade wow-and flutter performance. Symmetrical, constant tension "pushes" rather than pulls tape past the heads.
MTR-90 II delivers fast response and highly accurate tape location. Up to 14-inch reel-capacity with automatic reel-size sensing enables one full hour of recording at 15 ips. (Standard speeds are 15 and 30 ips, with up to 20% varispeed. A simple modification allows operation at 7.5 ips.) A full-function Remote Session Controller features separate record-ready and monitor functions, varispeed control, master switching, cue and transport controls. Options include the EC-101 Chase Synchronizer, which provides slave operation against external SMPTE/EBU timecode.

SYSTEM HIGHLIGHTS:
"Industry Workhorse," with proven track record in hundreds of facilities worldwide
Pinchroller-free tape transport for fast yet gentle handling of valuable multitrack masters
Two-inch cast-alloy deck plate for maximum ruggedness and stability
