Neumann M149 Tube Condenser Microphone M 149 Mic Packag
| This Neumann M149 package comes from a loving home in a pro NYC studio. The studio has a very strict no smoking policy, a climate controlled mic closet, a great, full time maintenance staff and some very anal retentive engineers. In short, it was extremely well cared for. It is about 6 years old, purchased new by the studio from which it comes. The studio was in decline in the later years so this mic didn't get very much use in the past 3 or so years. It was not made to just sit in a mic closet and look pretty. If you buy it, you must promise to make some good music with it or you can't have it... Condition: Excellent all around. It comes in it's original, very well preserved box. The shockmount, power supply, cherrywood box and originalneumann preservation bag is included. The pwr supply and cable is mint as is the shockmount. The cherrywood box is excellent with just a couple of very minor dings on the top that didn't even scratch the actual finish. The M 149 mic itself is EXCELLENT. There are two very small dings in the body. Anything else is not even worth mentioning. If it were not for the tiny dings, the mic would be 9.9 out of 10. But to give it a conservative cosmetic rating, it's a 9 out of 10. Functionally it's perfect. It sounds gorgeous, as you would expect. Serial # 713 Product Description: The M149 tube won the TEC award in 1999. The M 149 Tube is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone with switchable polar patterns. It is the first new 'Tube' microphone design from Neumann in over 30 years, and also the world's first transformerless tube microphone. The head grill is instantly recognizable to vintage Neumann aficionados as that of the classic M 49/M 50. The capsule (K 49), also from the M 49, is a select version of the K 47 capsule from the famous U 47. The M 149 Tube has the lowest self-noise of any tube microphone on the market and features 9 polar patterns switchable on the microphone body. There is also a 7 position high-pass filter on the rear of the microphone body. The circuitry of the M 149 Tube includes a tube amplifier coupled with the FET 100 transformerless circuitry as used in our award-winning TLM 50 microphone. As the VF 14 tube of the U 47 is no longer available, Neumann have optimized the M 149 Tube to have a sound "character" very similar to the U 47. Also, by incorporating modern technology with the tube amplifier, they were able to produce a tube microphone with unprecedented specifications. Vintage and modern technology combined!
