Niles Audio HDL-6 Speaker Selector Switcher Box
Almost new (9.5 out of 10) condition and functions perfectly. A great, high end component that is seriously undervalued.
Specifications
Construction:
* Black metal chassis * Padded feet * Two-piece screw clamp connectors in rear accept up to 14 gauge speaker wire * Push button selector switches for 6 speaker pairs * Specifications: 250 watts per channel continuous power handling * Flat frequency response from 20-20k * Compatible with 4-8 ohm speakers
Special Features
Impedance Compensation: The HDL-6 connects all speakers in parallel, and, when the impedance compensation circuitry is activated, 3 ohms of resistance is added to the total load. Ohms law can be applied to determine the operating load of a given speaker combination. For example:
* 6 pairs of 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel presents a 1.33 ohm load; when this unit's built-in impedance correction circuit is activated, the amp will see a 4.33 ohm load (1.33 ohms from the speakers plus 3 ohms from the impedance correction circuit) * 4 pairs of 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel presents a 2 ohm load; when this unit's built-in impedance correction circuit is activated, the amp will see a 5 ohm load (2 ohms from the speakers plus 3 ohms from the impedance correction circuit) * 4 pairs of 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel presents a 1 ohm load; when this unit's built-in impedance correction circuit is activated, the amp will see a 4 ohm load (1 ohm from the speakers plus 3 ohms from the impedance correction circuit)
Important Note: The manual indicates a receiver's/amplifier's A and B speaker outputs should not be used simultaneously while using this unit. However, per Niles Audio, if the A and B outputs of the amplifier/pre-amp or receiver are internally connected in series, the connection is ok. Volume expectations should be kept low. The amp may clip for lack of power when 4 or more pairs of speakers are connected.
